The Essence Of Portrait Photography

How do you know what kind of photos you will photograph? Will you be going to a family portrait photographers reunion? Are you going out for a scenic drive and hope to see some interesting sites wildlife and nature? These are just a few questions when it comes to digital photography. You will want to have a foundation of photography skills to obtain the nicest photographs and once you have those techniques established the subject will be your decision. Most portrait photographers either professionals or aspiring amateurs like you will have a certain technique they work around. It is the same with other professional artists; you have canvas painters, stone sculptors, starving artists, and many others. Photography is art and thus requires a keen eye for the right photo.

How do you know what subject you will shoot? This is where your interests lie. If you wish only to take pictures of wildlife then you will have to wait for the subject to come into view. Obviously you can go to a wildlife park such as the Rocky Mountain National Park and hope to find subjects. Most often it will depend on the time of year. Elk and Moose are seen around more when they come down the mountain side to co-habitate and graze. Birds will always be available, but the type of birds will be of a wide variety. If you live in Texas chances are you will have many picture opportunities to photograph a Hawk, while on Texas coast you may see heron or cranes. When you are practicing portrait techniques you will have to decide on your subject as you see fit. A lot of us are regulated to the area around us. Landscape photography requires the use of the land you have around you, unless you are going on vacation to some place new.

This is another important fact to choosing a subject. You are either limited or you have the whole world at your feet. It will depend on your traveling abilities. For now we will stick close to home. Once you decide on your filed of expertise you will then venture out looking for more photography subjects. The subject that speaks to you is what you should decide to photograph If a tree and the limbs it's formed get your attention, you may want to look at the lighting of the area. Deciding on from which angle or position to shoot from will also make the decision on the subject. The lighting may not be right for the subject you have chosen and the other side of the subject may not yield the best picture.

Again your eye is the best tool for finding a subject. How you choose what to photograph will depend on what is around you, the angle and the light. Moving quietly through a secluded area such as landscape will help you determine the subject. Looking under leaves or rocks is often beneficial to finding something new and different. You never know where you will find a picture just waiting for you to click a picture. Some people and animals do things that will never again happen and this is when you want to have camera near you. Most people interested in senior portrait photographers carry a digital camera in their bags everywhere they go. If this sounds like a habit, a real habit turns into a hobby and a possible income if you become skilled at taking the perfect pictures. As you improve at taking the pictures, you can then start displaying your prized images for others to observe and possibly spend their money on. Portrait Photography Studio
